As we march confidently towards a Viksit Bharat, it is paramount that we nurture and shape our young minds to assume the mantle of global leadership in the coming decades. Towards that end we must create an environment of rich tutelage, joyful and future aligned learning, equitable opportunities and especially empowering the Socio-Economic Disadvantaged Group, Women and Persons with Disabilities in the UTs of J&K and Ladakh.
Army Goodwill Schools (AGS) are the critical substrate in making winners out of ordinary people. Since last 25 years plus, AGS have been key in provision of quality education especially in remote and border areas of the Region. There is a growing clamour by the local population for opening more AGS and recently sanction of the Hon’ble Raksha Mantri has been accorded for opening an additional AGS at Kishtwar.
A comprehensive review of the AGS was recently undertaken and the central Key Focus Area identified was access to high quality, technology enabled and National Education Policy (NEP) aligned education. In order to nurture our children to realise their own potential and become responsible global citizens, a large number of multi domain initiatives are underway at AGSs, such as 100% smart classes, new age skills like AI & Robotics, NEP aligned Teacher training, upgradation of infrastructure, specialised coaching, natural progression of AGS students to higher education initiatives, establishment of career counselling cells at each AGS and maintaining a strong Alumni connect.
We must focus on cognitive development and character building to create well rounded global citizens adequately equipped for the 21st century. Nurturing our children in a harmonious and inclusive environment to help them identify their core skill sets and values is essential at each stage of learning from pre school to higher education.
I exhort all the stakeholders to actively indulge in keeping the learning curve of AGS in synchronization with the global changes, thereby actively empowering our children in becoming Global Leaders and Champions of Change.
Jai Hind !
